About

Who Am I?

I’m a deep thinker who reflects on life, and is sometimes overcome with an urge to write things down.

I work in the voluntary sector as a Communications and Engagement worker and strive to spread the word of the dedication and brilliance of voluntary organisations.

A question I have asked myself many times over the last few years – can I actually write a blog. It remains to be seen!

Why a blog?

Over the last few years when the urge to write things down takes over, I’ve scribbled (or the electronic equivalent) random pieces, and either posted on social media, or saved somewhere on file never to see the light of day again.

I’ve looked into starting a blog many times before but have always found a reason, or excuse, not to progress beyond reading initial tips on how to do so.

I decided it’s now or never, maybe it’s an age thing, but I’m not too worried about how many people read it, it’s more about me actually doing something concrete with my words and thoughts.

Why the name?

“Am I meant to be listening, or are you just leaking noise?”

This is a (sometimes) funny question I’m asked by my husband.

It’s John Bishop’s fault.

It came about the very first time I heard the brilliant comedian, John Bishop, on the radio. He talked about car journeys with his wife. He referred to her talking constantly, as ‘leaking noise’.

It was so very familiar and relatable to our car journeys as a couple, that it has become a regular question put to me by my husband. It’s become a regular joke.

And although I don’t like to admit it, a motto to describe me could be – “why say something with three words when you can use 50!”

There was no other possible name. I’m not just leaking noise in my blog – I’ve got something to say, or at least write, in silence – sometimes – when I’m not reading it back out loud!
